Impacts & Achievements.

These projects below, though not an all-inclusive list, amount to $520.1 million return on the investment by the community into the Port Authority.  In addition The Port Authority has worked on hundreds of policy topics, like CBP staffing, that have yielded tremendous impacts on the entire binational region.  Finally, The Port Authority has financially supported many initiatives that have been led in collaboration with by Fresh Produce Association of the Americas. 

  • Modernization of the Mariposa Port of Entry, $235 million

  • Improvements to the ADOT Safety Inspection facilities and construction of new ADOT Primary Inspection booths and other related improvements, $15 million

  • Construction of the pedestrian underpass at Mariposa Port of Entry, $2 million

  • Construction of the pedestrian pick up and drop off facilities at Mariposa Port of Entry, $700,000

  • Spearhead the efforts to update and redefine the map of the Nogales Flood Plain that saved millions of dollars in flood insurance for hundreds of buildings along the Nogales Wash, No estimate

  • Modernization of SR-189, $134 million

  • Support efforts to modernize the Tucson-Nogales Rail Corridor. $15 million

  • Support the efforts to modernize the Rio Rico Rail Inspection Yard, $30 million

  • Support the efforts for the creation of the Agua Zarca Rail Yard in Nogales, Sonora, $20 million

  • Work with the Concessionaire of the Corredor Fiscal to make the necessary improvements to enable the modernization of the Mariposa Port of Entry, $10 million

  • Construction of the FAST lane at the Mariposa Port of Entry, $4 million

  • Construction of the SENTRI Lane at DeConcini Port of Entry, $500,000

  • Support the efforts of the City of Nogales to shore up the assessment of the City of Nogales Debt by debt rating agencies, hundreds of thousands of dollars per year

  • Work with the Arizona Department of Transportation int eh creation of the Overweight Permit Program that has created a recurring revenue stream for both City of Nogales and Santa Cruz County, $1.4 million per year ($700,000 for each the City and the County), program has been operational since 2014, translates to date into over $8 million for the community

  • Construction of Cold Rooms at Mariposa Port of Entry, $1.2 million

  • Widening of road at Querobabi, $6 million

  • Cure-In-Place for the Nogales IOI, $38.7 million
